The Benue State government has unfolded plans to beautify Makurdi, the state capital for the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The state Commissioner for Works and Housing, Hon. Isaac Imojime Tiza, disclosed this when members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Benue State council visited his office on Friday.
Tiza, who noted that Governor Hyacinth Alia administration was already making a mark in the construction and renovation of roads and other infrastructure in the state, said before the Christmas, Makurdi would be wearing a beautiful look.
He said: “We are making frantic effort to make the town look beautiful before the Yuletide. We will make sure our city takes back the glory it ought to have.”
Tiza also informed that the renovation of the state civil service secretariat would commence soon as efforts are underway to do so.
He further called for joint efforts by all residents of the state to make Benue work for the betterment of every citizen.
“Benue deserves better and as a Benue person, I appealed on all Benue people and those resident in the state to support this government to make the state liveable for all.
Permanent Secretary of Works and Housing, Nick Joko, said the visit was a new beginning of a robust working relationship with the media to advance the cause of the state government for the good of the people.
He described the commissioner as young, focused and a go-getter, expressing joy that with him, the ministry would achieve tremendous success in a short while.
Earlier, Chairman of Correspondents’ Chapel, Emmanuel Antswen, congratulated the commissioner on his appointment and wished him well in office just as he pledged a friendly working relationship between the ministry and the correspondents.
