After taking his Laffmattazz comedy show to five major cities across the southwest including Abeokuta, Akure, Osogbo, Ilorin and Ibadan, Nigeria’s leading comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka 1st, will wrap it up at Balmoral, Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos on Sunday November 26, 2023. Time is 5pm.
According to Gbenga Adeyinka popularly known as Grand Comedian of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he embarked on the tour of the southwest early last year in order to unite a divisive nation with comedy.
“2023 will go down in history as the year where we allowed tribe, politics and religious diversity to cause disunity amongst us. So, my team and I decided to use what we have to correct this, and we set out on a ‘Unity Tour’ across the southwest of Nigeria. We ensured that entertainers with different political and religious leanings performed, entertained and preached the gospel of unity, using the Laffmattazz platform,” he said.
The actor, comedian and master of ceremony further explained the reason for dubbing the Lagos edition of the tour ‘Lagos Again’.
He stated: “Last year, we had our first edition in Lagos after 12 years of touring the southwest and we tagged it ‘Lagos At Last’, and I dare say it was so successful. As Lagos would always be home for us, we decided to round off the ‘Unity Tour’ in Lagos, hence the appellation ‘Lagos Again’.”
With the support of Nigerian Breweries’ super brands like Maltina, Goldberg and Ace, Adeyinka has lined up at least 33 entertainers to thrill guests at the event.
“Over the years, I have built relationships with many of my colleagues in the entertainment industry, including the younger ones. This is why we’ve had some of the biggest names in the industry perform at different editions of Laffmattazz. They included Davido, Tiwa Savage, Teni the Entertainer, D’banj, Olamide and many more.
“However, for the ‘Lagos Again’ edition, we have a potpourri of musical and comedy acts led by Tuface Idibia, Adewale Ayuba, Alibaba, Omobaba 1, and Ruggedman. We have over 25 comedians and seven musicians including a surprise act, DJ Vinnie, Magic Whizz, Carton Boys and GKB,” the comic reiterated.
Other entertainers billed for the show are Funnybone, Destalker, Madiba of Comedy from Benin, Bowjoint, Damola, Benjy d Joke, Bash, Koffi tha Guru, MC Ajele, MC Lozy from Imo State, MC Danfo from Abuja, Baba Alariya, Dr Smile, Wisdom da Mimic, MC Stylo, Prince Phelar, Baba D Baba, Mecoyo, Mario, MC 90s, Lizzy Jay, MC Layor from Akure, Goroso Ekiti, Aristos Band, Ashny, the Countryman, Real Iyke, and DJ Vinnie.
Meanwhile, in the 13 years of taking Laffmattazz to the southwest, Gbenga Adeyinka has produced and promoted other growing talents in the comedy industry.
“We have consistently given our platform to young and budding talents to express themselves and launch their careers. Some of these talents include Damola and Baba Alariya from Osogbo, and MC Remote and Prince Phelar from Ibadan.”
