In the wake of Nasarawa United FC’s triumphant start to the 2023/24 Nigeria National League (NNL) with a lone-goal victory over Zamfara United FC, the team’s management expressed sincere appreciation to the Nasarawa State Government for its instrumental role in the success of the league opener.
Dr. Othman Ibrahim Ahmed, Chairman of Nasarawa United, conveyed gratitude during a media briefing on Monday at the Lafia City Stadium. He specifically thanked Governor Abdullahi Sule for swiftly supporting the league’s relocation to Lafia, culminating in the stadium’s impressive transformation within a week.
“The Governor, a dedicated supporter and financier of the Club, has been a worthy father and leader. We remain eternally grateful and indebted to him,” said Dr. Ahmed.
He further acknowledged the Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, for providing moral and financial support to the team, emphasizing the importance of such backing from various stakeholders.
Coach Usman Adams, Nasarawa United’s Technical Adviser, reflected on the historic win, stating, “The result against Zamfara United was historic because it was the first time that the Club would win her first league’s match on home soil for some time.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming clash against EFCC FC in Abuja, Coach Adams assured fans of a strategic approach, acknowledging the pressure faced in the opening match and expressing determination to secure positive results in subsequent games.
“In terms of financial support and equipment, we are not lagging behind. The Government’s support and that of the Management are enough proofs to return this team to the Premier League as quickly as possible,” Adams reaffirmed.
Nasarawa United’s management pledged to reciprocate the overwhelming support received, assuring supporters that the team is well-prepared for the challenges of the 2023/24 NNL Season and is motivated to reclaim a spot in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
