A few hours after the conclusion of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state congress in Ekiti State, Comrade J. K. Oni and Alhaji Gani Bankole, who were presented as having emerged in a parallel congress, have dissociated themselves from the exercise.

Oni and Bankole said they did not take part in any other State Congress of the PDP in Ekiti State apart from the one authorised by the party and supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),where Barrister Gboyega  Oguntuase emerged as the State Chairman and Oni as Financial Secretary among others.

The statement read: “Our attention has been drawn to report orchestrated by some faceless individuals that a State Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) other than the one in which Barrister Gboyega Oguntuase was elected took place in Ekiti State today (yesterday). The report also indicated that we, Comrade J. K. Oni and Alhaji Gani Bankole, were ‘elected’ as Vice Chairman Central and South Senatorial Districts respectively.

“We wish to state categorically that we did not take part in any other state congress of the PDP in Ekiti State apart from the only one authorised by the party and supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), where Barrister Oguntuase emerged as the State Chairman and Comrade J. K. Oni as State Financial Secretary, among others.”
