The zonal national vice chairman, North Central zone of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Hon Zakari Idde, has said that deliberate efforts should be made to ensure that the next governor of Nasarawa State comes from the northern part of the state, a zone that has not produce the governor since the state was created in 1996.

Idde described as commendable the recent zoning of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship ticket to the northern part of the state as democracy in action and called on the APC to copy from the opposition party by also zoning its ticket to the north to ensure fairness in the rotation of the governorship slot.

The chairman who stated this while playing host to members of the correspondent chapel in the state applauded the leadership of the party for its doggedness, adding that the decision was done at the right footing following the relegation of northern zone to test the seat of governorship since the advent of democracy in 1999.

According to him “from 1999 to date, western zone taste the governorship seat fro two consecutive terms, that is from 1999-2007, while the Aliyu Akwe Doma from Nasarawa South ruled for four years and the incumbent governor Umaru Tanko Almakura is completing his second term in office which is eight years, the southern zone alone would have ruled the state

He attributed the current economic quagmire to the damage done by the immediate past president under the PDP as a disaster that wreak havoc to the nation, “Imagine a woman who was the oil minister, Dizeani maduekwe diverted huge amount of money without considering the plight of Nigerian masses”

Speaking exclusively to our correspondent, the state chairman of the newly registered Advance Democratic Party (ADP) Sen. Musa Yusuf Nagogo said the party will also zoned its governorship ticket to the northern part of the state.

Senator Nagogo who is equally a governorship aspirant on the party’s platform said the decision will ensure equality and fairness to the people of the area and advice other political parties to follow suit.
