Monday Agono Matthew is a model, producer and actor. He is from Kogi state, Nigeria, born October 04 1993.

Matthew is a graduate of Caritas university, Enugu state with a Bsc in Computer Science.

He started modeling at the age of 18. And became an international name after he signed to agencies all over the world. Nigeria, Capetown, Turkey, London, UAE etc.

Monday Agono Matthew has graced the cover of several magazines and have been featured is a lot of campaigns, editorials, runway etc.
In this interview, he shares his success story and inspiration behind his rapidly growing brand.

 

 

Can tell us about your journey so far in modeling industry?

One of my proudest accomplishment was winning Mr Nigeria international 2015, at first I didn’t want to try, untill a friend pushed me to go for it. As at that time I just finished university, winning Mr Nigeria International really shaped me to who I have become today. I got endorsed as a youth ambassador by my governor and was able to organize charity projects to help less privileged children around Nigeria. When I started modeling I also developed the love for producing and directing, and the whole process of getting light camera and everyone on set ready.

 

 

What challenges have you had to overcome along the way?

One of the major challenges I faced in my earlier stage in the industry was rejection, many agencies rejected me. I wasn’t selected for shows and also treated as an option. As a model you should be open to accept rejection, not all client are gonna work with you, not everyone is gonna like you, and that shouldn’t make you think that you’re not good enough. We all have that client we are perfect for.  There is a lot of criticism in the industry but as a model with focus and dedication you can overcome those challenges.

 

 

What do you specialise in, and why should someone work with you over the competition?

I specialize in modeling and producing, but also have a startup clothing brand I launched in 2020 during Covid called OLOBS.
I think my ability to pose, my charming look, body and my energy on set been humble and respectful has been an instrument in my success. I am very passionate about designs and the creation of the pieces that I want to see everything been executed perfectly. And I’m constantly seeking to learn, clients always want a cast that’s easy to work with.

What is your best piece of advice for readers who desire to find success?

The advice I always give to people is to have a positive mindset/attitude, not to stop trying and learning/developing in what ever field,  consistency is key, confidence will follow. Stay real and prayerful.

 

 

Speaking of success, what does the word mean to you?

Success to me is achieving a desired goal. I have achieved success in a lot of things I have done, and to me that is to be happy, to help people, to become a better person, to appreciate life, nature, beauty, health etc..

 

 

What’s next for you?

What’s next for me is to continue making a great impact in my field. I hope to open a very big production company soon and continue to push the boundaries of what is possible.

Can you share some of your success story ?

I have performed in Dubai’s flagship fashion show for 4 seasons, showcasing the collections of the best local, regional and international designers, such as Michael Cinco, Amato, Ezra, Valette Studios, Emergency Room, Behnoode, Maison du mec, Barmo and others. South African Fashion week. Made debut on the runway for designers such as David Tale, Richmnisi, Orange Culture, Maxmara, Ric Dusi etc. Lagos fashion week . Arise fashion week. Fashion week DXB. I have featured as a model in editorials for leading regional and international magazines,

such as Wired Magazine, Esquire Magazine, Grazia Magazine, Cosmopolitan Magazine,Fuckingyung Magazine, Flanelle Magazine

Victor Magazine and others.
