The Center for Peace and Self-Value Reorientation, an NGO involved in the crusade against corrupt practices, has bestowed the award of “Service Ambassador” on the Edo State Commissioner of Business, Trade, and Cooperatives, Afie Braimoh.
Presenting the award to her in her office in Benin City, on behalf of the Center, Comrade Abubakar Oyibo, said the commissioner was selected for the award given her strong advocacy for good governance as well as being ethically reliable in the discharge of her responsibilities as a public servant.
He said before now, Hon. Afie Braimoh’s public rating reached the rooftop owing to the passion and uncommon zeal she has brought into the promotion of the “Made in Edo” goods and services as well as rendering critical support to the local MSMEs.
While stating how the Commissioner was nominated for the award, Oyibo said “respondents in a survey conducted by the Center, using standard instruments such as opinion poll, interviews, field assessments, comments and votes collated on the social media.
“I say a big thank you for thinking, acting, and advocating right.
” Economic growth cannot happen in a void when there is no strong ethical responsibility on the part of the leaders.
“Our society will not make progress if we continue to leave things in the hands of morally bankrupt people.
“You have played a great role in setting the vision and the policy framework for the harnessing of trade opportunities, investment, and so on. You are also on record, as having created the conducive platform for the local MSME’s to thrive and contribute to national growth”.
Comrade Oyibo, in particular, thanked the commissioner for her loyalty and also stated the Center,’s readiness to partner with her ministry in the onerous task of promoting ethical practices in public service.
Responding, Hon. Braimoh thanked the Center for the award, saying she is deeply humbled while also pledging to redouble her efforts
“It has been tough and draining but each time someone tells me that he/she was able to sell his/her products and that the offtake is good, I get thrilled that my work is done and the desired impacts were being made”, Braimoh said.
She however dedicated the award to the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, stating that all her achievements in the ministry is because of the enabling environment provided by him (the governor).
