A member of the House of Representatives from Plateau State under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, has joined the speakership race for the 10th National Assembly.
Hon. Gagdi who is the chairman of the committee on Navy in the 9th Assembly will however wait and respect his party eventual decision on zoning.
In a press statement by a follower and keen supporter of the lawmaker for the national assembly race, Inalegwu Ejembi Adaje said it was an encouraging development for democracy.
“The lawmaker who is representing Pankshin/Kanam/Kanke federal constituency of Plateau state has been meeting colleagues in the green chamber to position himself in the event that Speakership is Zone to the North Central where he hails from.
“Hon. Gagdi who is in his early 40’s has set a record as the first time a federal lawmaker to have a sixth(6) self sponsored bill consented by the President.
“One of the bills Gagdi moved was for the review and re-enactment of the Police Acts. Therefore it is heart warming that he is in the race for the speakership”. The statement said.
