Two suspected members of an armed robbery and kidnapping gang have been killed during a shoot out with police operatives at Ohorhe community along Effurun-Sapele road in Delta State.
Public Relations Officer of the state police command, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the deaths in a statement issued on Wednesday.
Edafe said the suspects were wounding during a shoot out with the gang, adding that they died before they got to the hospital.
The police image maker who stated that other members of gang escaped into the bush, narrated how the breakthrough was recorded.
“One of the suspects was lured by the police operatives into believing that he was discussing with a proposed buyer for one of the suspected stolen vehicles in their possession.
“The suspect not knowing what was coming, led the police to their hideout at Ohorhe community along Sapele Effurun
“Upon arrival at the hideout, the suspects on sighting and noticing that they have been rounded by the police engaged them in a serious gun duel.
“In the ensuing gun duel, two of the suspects were fatally wounded while others escaped.
“The suspects gave up the ghost before they could get to the hospital,” he stated.
Saying that manhunt for the fleeing suspects has been intensified, Edafe listed exhibits recovered as on locally made single barrel rifle, one locally made cut-to-size pistol, three expended cartridges, seven live cartridges and one native amulet.
