There is no doubt that deliberate efforts by individuals and groups to create awareness and stimulate interests for the development of the golf sport is beginning to gain positive momentum in recent years as RockMade Golf Group has joined the queue with 1st Beginners Golf Classics.
The event specifically for handicap 28 and 36 is billed for December 16-17, 2022 at the Abeokuta Golf Club in Ogun State; 16th is cocktail and interactive session among participants, while 17th is the tee off from 7:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Sanusi Mubasiru, the initiator is a professional golfer and the Director of RockMade Golf Group in a chat with SOKOnnect recently said that the group, “RockMade Golf Group aims to promote the game of golf; the 1st Beginners Golf Classics is for 28 and 36 handicappers; it’s to celebrate the beginners and further stimulate their interest in the game of golf.”
Sanusi believes that the beginners are usually are not motivated in the game, hence the need for a deliberate effort to stimulate their interest to grow in the game of golf: “Most people as they sign up for the game, soon lose interest – they don’t take the game serious, because there’s no encouragement; this is where we’re coming in to change the narrative.”
He added, “The beginners will compete among themselves, alongside Sponsors and Pro’s which has never happened before in Nigeria.”
The RockMade Golf Group Director revealed further that not less than 150 golfers from across the country are expected to participate in the novel event as registration has been impressive and still on going.
He concluded that all logistics have been put in place to ensure a hitch free event saying, “Participants in this maiden classic will have cause to be happy being part of the event, we’ve put in place all that will make the event worth memorable and safe for all, because golf is life.”
