Six members of the House of Representatives from Delta State have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The six members, who announced their defection, at yesterday’s plenary, in separate letters to the speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, are Nnamdi Ezechi, Ukodhiko Jonathan, Victor Nwokolo, Julius Pondi, Nicholas Mutu and Thomas Ereyitomi.
Similarly, two lawmakers from Enugu State, elected into the House on the Labour Party, Mark Obetta and Dennis Agbo, announced their defection to the PDP.
All the defectors cited alleged division in their political parties as their reason for cross-carpeting.
This is coming on the heels of the defection of the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevbori, the 2023 PDP vice presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa and some other leaders of the Delta State PDP to the ruling party, recently.
Prior to yesterday’s defections, more than 12 members of the House elected on the platform of opposition political parties, especially the LP, have defected to the APC
