Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested 30 suspected armed robbers, murderers and kidnappers. It also arrested 54 suspected protesters.

Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, said: “The officers are diligently carrying out their duties since the protest broke out on August 1 2024. They applied professionalism during the nationwide protest.

“We arrested 54 protesters for allegedly attacking our personnel and for looting. The suspects were apprehended in Lafia, Karu, Keffi and Mararaba-Udeje in Nasarawa Local Government. Forty of them have been charged to court.

“My officers and other security agents controlled the situation. Police would continue to be professional in handling issues. I sent a strong signal to trouble makers bent on causing mayhem under any guilty to desist or face the full wrath of the law. Violent protest was unlawful and would not be tolerated.

“I have directed DPOs and area commanders to monitoring their officers to checkmate hoodlums. We arrested some hoodlums in their war zone in Lafia and Masaka, terrorising the state. We have charged them to court.

“Operatives attached to Masaka Division through intelligence patrol intercepted three suspected armed robbers at 3030 Junction, Masaka, recovering two local fabricated pistols, three cartridges, three cutlasses and criminal charms.

“Police operatives attached to Karshi Divisional headquarters arrested four suspected armed robbers involved in breaking into Government Secondary School, Karshi, Karu LG. They carted away computers and other items. Police recovered inverter, central processing units, computer keyboards, monitors, mouse, change over switch and solar battery.
