Three passengers of a 17-seater commercial bus yesterday lost their lives after a truck crashed into their vehicle at the Berger area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The driver of the overloaded LT bus, KRD 326 XG and 14 others were injured.
The injured have been admitted at the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre at the Tollgate area while the remains of the deceased were deposited at the Lagos Mainland General Hospital morgue.
The General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr. Michael Akindele, who confirmed the accident, said the agency received an alert about the accident via the 767/112 emergency numbers of the state.
Akindele said he was informed via the alert of an accident involving an LT commercial bus with registration number KRD 326 XG and an articulated truck, without a registration number, along Lagos Ibadan expressway inward toll gate by Corn Oil filling Station which occurred at about 5.36 am.
According to him, preliminary investigation revealed the accident was as a result of reckless driving of the truck driver.
Meanwhile, armed robbers yesterday stormed a commercial bank in Apapa and shot dead a customer, Kingsley Chukwudi. Daily Sun gathered that 25-year-old Chukwudi, was on his way to the banking hall before he was shot by the hoodlums who suspected he was carrying money.
“The robber opened fire on him immediately he left the banking hall suspecting the bag he was carrying was full of money,” a witness disclosed.
The witness who spoke under the condition of anonymity told Daily Sun that Chukwudi was a private security guard in one of the companies in Apapa.
“He was carrying his laptop bag and the robbers thought he was going to deposit money into the bank.”
The state police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, who confirmed the incident, said hoodlums attempted to rob a bank customer and he was shot as they felt he was blocking their way.
Catholic priest kidnapped in Kano

A Catholic priest in charge of St Joseph Catholic Church, Jitan – Dutse, in Tudun Wada Local Government Council, Kano State, Father Gospel Joshua Inalegwu hads been kidnapped.
Daily Sun gathered the popular priest, who was ordained in Kano in 2013, was abducted at about 1.30 am in the parish.
Sources close to Daily Sun said the kidnappers, numbering about 12 in all, broke into the priest’s house, shooting sporadically in the air and destroying its locks before taking away their target.
“They shattered the gate with their guns,” said a dejected colleague of his who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
He lamented the reoccurring incidents of abduction of priests and other members of the religious, saying that following the repeated cases of abduction, the Bishop Council had since resolved against the payment of ransom for the kidnap of any priest.
Daily Sun investigation showed that the abduction of the Benue- born priest has resulted into panic and anxiety among several other priests working in Kano Diocese.
There were indications that many of them may adopt additional security measures in the event of this ugly development.
When contacted on telephone, the Catholic Bishop of Kano Diocese, Rt. Rev Dr John Namaza Niyiring confirmed the abduction.
He said that he was abducted in the early hours of the morning.
“For sometimes, these people were not talking but they have opened up, they have started to talk. They are demanding for N20 million“ he said.
“ I think that in the process of abducting him that he was injured “ he said with pains in voice.
