Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested 27 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and cultists in their various hideouts and recovered dangerous weapons. Commissioner of Police, Mrs Augustina Ogbodo, vowed: “The ‘ember’ months will be too hard for the hoodlums to operate.

“I have visited flashpoints where the hoodlums carried out their operations. Some of the hoodlums come from the neighbouring state. They operate on Abakaliki-Enugu Expressway and Ebonyi-Cross River Expressway. I have redeployed our tactical team to checkmate the hoodlums.

“The team arrested 10 suspected armed robbers and cultists in Abakaliki. They robbed innocent victims of their valuable items in their hideouts. We recovered dangerous weapons from them.

“Police operatives arrested some kidnappers in Afikpo-Abakaliki axis. They engaged the hoodlums in gun duel. They escaped with bullet wounds and abandoned their guns.

“I have warned my officers to shun corruption and illegal duties. Anyone caught will face the Police Act. They should respect the fundamental human rights of the citizens and imbibe community policing in carrying out their duties.
