The Mayor of Urhobo land, Eshanekpe Israel a.k.a Akpodoro has said that no form of political merger can unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who he believes enjoys the overwhelming mandate of Nigerians.
Akpodoro stated this on the sideline of a meeting of elders and leadership of the National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators, (NCNDE-A) and other ‘critical stakeholders’ in Nigerian and Niger Delta project, in Abuja.
He said his statement was in response to publications reportedly announcing a merger of political parties, aimed at wresting power from the incumbent in 2027.
He noted that Nigerians won’t vote for enemies of the reform agenda of the President, adding that those eager to sell Nigeria to their proxies can never have a place in the nation’s governance.
The meeting according to the Mayor who is also the founder, Urhobo Youth Forum for Change, (UYFC) was held to kick-start the process of renewing the second term mandate of President Tinubu who he noted has reposition the country’s national economy for which he said, Nigerians are happy and would gladly vote for him in 2027.
“It is no more news that the President is generally accepted and loved by Nigerians across divides save for a handful of disgruntled elements within the ranks of the opposition who are jealous and envious of the achievements of the APC-led administration of President Tinubu.”
Describing the President’s policies as that of “national rebirth and revitilisation”, Akpodoro maintained that, it has renewed the hope of Nigerians more than ever before, saying the citizens had suffered hopelessly in the past under successive administrations when politicians smiled to the banks at the detriment of the masses.
He said the current administration has kept its eyes on the ball in its bid to buy-back the nation from the destruction wrecked by the PDP administrations in the past.
“Now, Nigerians are facing temporary economic hardship with hope and not hopelessness. Therefore, Nigerians would rather vote the president for a second term to enable them to reap the dividends of genuine democratic efforts being made currently.”
He noted that, in all fronts the president had shown resilience, capacity, records of success and excellently waging war against those he described as economic monsters, adding that he has demonstrated the needed can-do-spirit by tackling multidimensional sleaze in his fight against corruption, defeated insurgency and insecurity.
He said the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries that were revamped by the Tinubu administration is testament that Nigerians have a visionary leader who has proven to be a beacon of hope and accelerated development.
“We were once told that it was impossible to revamp the refineries in the country, but such ‘prophets of doom’ have been proven wrong by the President.
“Each time I hear merger, I wonder what they are merging for? Merge for who to vote for them? Nigerians would never vote for any other person in 2027 than the visionary leader who is currently turning the misfortunes of the past to blessings for Nigerians. Throughout PDP years in government, Nigerians lived in darkness and paid bills for darkness. Those who sold our national patrimonies without profit are merging against the man who’s busy exiting Nigerians from hopeless and poverty,” he said.
