Kebbi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the lives and property of the people as well as improving their welfare in the state.

The Special Adviser to Governor Nasir Idris on Public Enlightenment and Orientation, Alhaji Ibrahim Jombali, made the remarks during the commemoration of  the 2025 World Refugee Day organised by the National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Birnin-Kebbi.

Jombali said the state government would continue to work closely with the relevant agencies to address the challenges being faced by the IDPs across the state.

He cited the establishment of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs in the state by Governor Nasir as a clear demonstration of the state government’s determination to effectively tackle the prevailing humanitarian crises in the state.

He maintained that the present administration in the state accords utmost priority to the security of life and property of the citizenry, improvement of their well-being, as well ensuring a swift response to emergencies rising from insecurity and natural disasters.

The special adviser, who explained that practical steps are being taken by the Kebbi State Government to provide a lasting solution to the security challenges bedevilling some parts of the state, identified  the creation of over 5,000 directs job for unemployed youths in the state as an  unprecedented move in that regard.

This, he said, is in addition to the state government’s provision of logistics support to the various security agencies operating in the state with a view to boosting their morale in combating the Lakurawa and any other security threats in the state.

In his presentation, the Kebbi State Director of NOA, Alhaji Nasir Karofi thanked the state government for its prompt response to emergency in the state and called on all the relevant agencies and community leaders to explore a comprehensive process towards structural management of displaced persons in their respective areas.

The World Refugee Day is a gentle reminder for the state and nation to understand the realities of displacement.
