Nigeria’s Godson Oghenebrume overpowered a field of strong contenders to win his first individual 100m Southeastern Championships title in a new personal best of 10.04s.
The race held at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium on the Louisiana State University (LSU) campus Saturday evening had reigning Nigerian 100m champion, Favour Ashe grabbing the silver medal with a time of in 10.08s
The victory puts Oghenebrume at fourth on the all-time Louisiana State University, LSU performance’s list.
It was his second SEC title of the day after anchoring the school’s 4x100m relay team to run the second ever sub-38 second relay in collegiate history with a time of 37.90 seconds.
Ashe and Oghenebrume first clashed in the collegiate circuit in May 2022 with the former running 10.04 to win his first SEC championships 100m title while Oghenebrume came in fifth in 10.16.
