There was pandemonium last Saturday at  Chinda-Ada George road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, when a man, simply identified as Nuhu, reportedly snatched an AK47 rifle from one of the conventional security guards attached to the house of an ex-governor.

Daily Sun gathered that Nuhu, a popular scavenger suspected to have taken hard drug (Colos), ran with the AK47 rifle he snatched from the security personnel to Location Road, off Chinda Way, Mile 4, opposite a burrow pit, where he began to shoot indiscriminately.

A witness said the sporadic shooting resulted in the killing of a man, who was also a scavenger, while others scampered for safety. The source, who gave his name as Julius Wariboko, disclosed that police officers arrived the scene after Nuhu had reportedly shot a man dead, and the suspect (Nuhu) engaged the police officers in a shoot-out but was gunned down, while the AK47 rifle was retrieved by the security operative.

The source revealed that police officers from Rupakani (Ada George Police Division) and other officers came to retrieve the two dead bodies.

Further reports said before Nuhu went to snatch the AK47 rifle from the security guard, he had chased other of his ethnic brothers with a dagger.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police (SP), confirmed the shooting incident to journalists.
