In a bold step to expand healthcare access for women, the Aleeta Foundation and GoWellness have launched a Free Basic Health Insurance Initiative targeting 1,000 beneficiaries by the end of 2025.
Spearheaded by wellness advocate and GoWellness CEO, Dr. Gloria Praise, the initiative provides free maternity care, including prenatal, delivery and postpartum services, alongside holistic wellness support for women in underserved communities.
“Our goal is simple: to make wellness accessible and affordable for every woman. “Health isn’t just about hospitals; it’s also about prevention, balance and care that touches every aspect of life,” Dr. Praise said.
GoWellness, with centres in Abuja and Port Harcourt, promotes alternative therapies, such as fitness programmes, aromatherapy and wellness education, bridging gaps in conventional medical care.
The programme kicked off in April with the enrollment of 250 women across Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt. More states will be included as the project expands over the year.
Funded by Dr. Praise herself, the initiative highlights a private-sector-driven approach to community health. The partners are urging corporate sponsors, development partners and private citizens to support the program’s growth.
