Kwara State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects for kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms and culpable homicide. Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, said: “We will not relent in our efforts to rid Kwara of criminals. Our officers remain committed to pursuing justice with diligence and integrity.
“The Anti-Kidnapping Squad (AKS) operatives arrested a notorious kidnap kingpin and long-standing fugitive on the police watch list in Ajase-Ipo. The Police Tactical Team (PTT), in conjunction with a vigilante commander attached to the Kaiama sector, intercepted a group of suspicious individuals conducting routine surveillance patrol. They recovered one locally made dynamite explosive and one paramilitary-style operational jacket, among other dangerous items.
“Operatives arrested five suspects in connection with the murder on the farmland of one Alhaji Kazeem in Oreke. The deceased’s two sons kidnapped were rescued. The dismantling of the kidnap syndicate is in full swing.
“Also, police arrested a suspect in connection with the burglary of a house in Ilorin and recovered 16 mattresses of the victims. Operatives arrested four suspects for an armed robbery incident at a residence in Tanko, IIorin and recovered a motorcycle, electrical cables, weapons and industrial gas cylinders.
“Police arrested a suspect who allegedly impersonated a client and diverted N8million worth of cement meant for delivery in Ilorin. He also coordinated the fraudulent operation and disappearance of a truck of cement.
“Police intelligence arrested eight suspects in the tragic incident, where a two-month-old baby was declared missing in Ilorin and was later found dead. Police are investigating the circumstances of the heart breaking homicide.”
