Sadiq Umar returns to training after 247 days

Super Eagles striker, Umar Sadiq was yesterday back in training with his Real Sociedad teammates for the first time, after 247 days he suffered an ACL injury last year in a Spanish La Liga game.
The Nigerian trained with the group, having recovered from the serious knee injury he suffered last year at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez against Getafe.
It was his first game as a starter with Real Sociedad, after which he had just arrive signed from Almeria. A week earlier Sadiq had made his debut coming off the bench and scored the equalizer against Atletico Madrid.
In the La Liga game against Getafe, Sadiq suffered an anterior ligament tear in his knee that was going to prevent him from playing for the remainder of the season.
Sadiq became the most expensive signing in the history of the San Sebastián club, who had paid 20 million for his services.
According to the club, Tuesday’s training is a decisive step for him to return to the pitch sooner rather than later but enough to keep him making steps in his recovery. We don’t want to take risks, as he goes very carefully with his return to competition. The workload with the group will gradually increase. However, it was a first step, and essential for his morale because it is not the same to train alone than to be able to do it within the group dynamics.
