How AI, Machine Learning are revolutionising traditional industries –ICT expert

An AI and Robotics System Analyst, Anthony Afuye-Cyrus, has highlighted how emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are driving innovation and transformation within traditional industries.

In a recent discussion, Afuye-Cyrus explained that sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, and healthcare are increasingly leveraging these cutting-edge technologies to modernize their operations and spur innovation.

Afuye-Cyrus emphasised that the integration of AI has significantly enhanced efficiency, streamlined operations, and reduced costs, giving companies a competitive advantage.

“The adoption of AI in traditional industries is transforming operations by improving decision-making processes, optimising workflows, and lowering expenses,” he said. “Companies that embrace these technologies will secure a competitive edge in a digital-first world.”

In the manufacturing sector, AI has been a game-changer, addressing complex challenges such as optimizing supply chains, improving production scheduling, and minimizing inventory costs. These advancements have allowed manufacturers to maintain smoother operations, reduce waste, and increase productivity. Afuye-Cyrus pointed out that AI’s predictive capabilities are particularly helpful in identifying potential disruptions and offering solutions in real time.

Turning to agriculture, Afuye-Cyrus noted that AI and ML are proving invaluable in tackling some of the sector’s most pressing challenges, including climate change and resource optimization. These technologies enable farmers to use drones and AI-driven systems to monitor plant growth, predict pest outbreaks, and ultimately enhance crop yields.

This, he said, plays a crucial role in advancing food security and sustainability on a global scale.

“The agricultural sector is benefitting greatly from the application of AI and ML,” Afuye-Cyrus remarked. “Farmers can now monitor plant health, optimize irrigation, and make data-driven decisions that improve productivity and sustainability. This is not only reducing waste but also boosting global food security.”

Healthcare has similarly witnessed a revolution due to the incorporation of AI and ML. Afuye-Cyrus highlighted that these technologies are improving patient outcomes by reducing administrative burdens and enhancing the accuracy of medical diagnoses. Additionally, AI is being used to monitor medical equipment by analyzing sensor data to predict potential failures, helping healthcare providers avoid costly breakdowns and improve care delivery.

“Machine Learning is also enabling real-time solutions for disruptions such as political instability or adverse weather conditions,” he explained. “Supply chains are optimized as demand is forecasted more accurately, allowing industries to respond proactively rather than reactively.”

Afuye-Cyrus concluded by expressing optimism about the future, noting that as more companies gain access to AI and ML technologies, these innovations will become integral to their day-to-day operations. He believes this will lead to more informed decision-making, greater operational efficiency, and long-term, sustainable growth across sectors.

“The future of traditional industries lies in their ability to embrace AI and Machine Learning,” Afuye-Cyrus affirmed. “With the right tools and mindset, companies can navigate the complexities of a rapidly evolving market and remain competitive.”
